About Our Neighborhood
Tucked into a quiet, sylvan setting between the Seattle city limits and the sprawling suburban
outskirts, Lake Forest Park affords its residents an easy commute to the downtown area as well
as a close-knit community. It's no wonder that so many residents tend to stay for the long term.
Sense of Community
Underscoring the sense of community are multiple civic events which include a summer-long farmers market, an annual garden tour, a spring release of salmon by Brookside Elementary students into McAleer Creek and outdoor summer concerts hosted by the local arts council.
Diversity of Housing Choices
Approximately 13,000 Lake Forest Park residents live within the three-square-mile city borders. They occupy about 4,500 homes which range from cottages to refined mansions. Older homes clustered along the original city limits of Ballinger Way include many which began as vacation homes for Seattle residents. Many of these have been expanded and updated but still retain the charming character of the original forest setting. Mid-century classics occupy much of the surrounding areas from the top of Horizon View Summit to Sheridan Beach and up the hill to Sheridan Terrace and Sheridan Heights. A number of these homes have also been expanded and/or updated to current standards. However, one hallmark remains: the serene and calm environment of this sylvan enclave.
